Registering 3CX Competitive Wallboard
We are developing a solution for a customer which will use VoIP Tools for about 130 simultaneous calls. In the current trial phase of just 4 simultaneous calls, we have had to migrate our VT Relay to another server and migrate our 3CX Competitive Wallboard to another different machine. The VT Relay is running fine, but the 3CX Competitive Wallboard cannot start its service (it times out) and now it says "key has been activated too many times". But we are only running one instance of VT Relay, so why have we been locked out? And why is 3CX Competitive Wallboard timing out on start?
Any help would be appreciated.
Just like 3CX, our tools track where they are installed by collecting specific attributes about the computer. Moving your software, again just like 3CX, requires a conversation with VoIPTools support to deactivate the software on the first computer so you can activate on a new computer. The Relay has a "free" mode that enables a few API methods necessary to support our free tools, but for licensed functions, the Relay has to successfully register a license key. That is likely why the Wallboard will not start -- the Relay needs to successfully register so the Wallboard can use the restricted API methods.
I understand that one can only have 1 instance of VT Relay per licence. But am I correct in thinking one can have several instances of Competitive Wallboard, communicating with the same single instance of VT Relay?
Absolutely. You may have multiple locations sharing the same 3CX server, or multiple offices in the same building where you need to display information about a specific group. Those situations are all supported with a single VoIPTools license. The only time you would need another license is if another 3CX server is needed.
